I wish there was a button I could press to make certain recipes go viral, because this would be at the top of my list.

I’ve had some really good food lately. Just last week I had one of the best lasagnas I can remember. Then this week I had some lovely dumplings from my favorite Chinese restaurant. When I sat down today to brainstorm some new ideas, and I usually pull from either recent experiences or inspiration at the grocery store, but with those two meals still on my mind, I got to thinking… what if we made a wonton/dumpling lasagna?

All your favorite flavors of an Asian dumpling but layered like your favorite lasagna. The ultimate comfort meal and so budget-friendly that you won't believe the total cost.

Especially because I actually prefer the pork version of these over the beef version, but they are totally interchangeable, so do you boo-boo. Just a heads-up, ground pork is the cheapest ground meat you can buy, so maybe it’s time to try a new flavor.

But again, this is an example of taking familiar ingredients and coming up with new ways to have them. There’s no secret formula. It’s just a lot of trial and error. If you’re afraid to take some risks in the kitchen, you will always be the same cook you are now. It’s by taking chances you learn about a new flavor pairing. You learn that maybe you should season your food more. It teaches you the nuances of being in a kitchen.

With the times being as tough as they are, it’s more important now than ever to hone in your skills in the kitchen to make the most out of the least expensive ingredients. So get ready to impress your family and friends with this one-of-a-kind recipe.
