Seared Sesame Ahi Tuna w/ Mango Avocado Salsa
It's Cheat Day. Let's indulge our tastebuds and our wallets.
It’s Cheat Day. And cheat days are important. I understand that given the current financial climate, spending extra on a meal can feel irresponsible. But much like treating yourself occasionally while on a diet, it’s important that you allow yourself to enjoy some moments. Obviously if purchasing some expensive items simply isn’t in the budget, I completely understand. You gotta do what you gotta do. My one argument would be, if you’re following along with my recipes, then you are already saving more, so why not take some of that savings and splurge just for one night?
This is the best recipe to do it in my personal opinion. Ahi tuna is pricey, always has been and always will be. But you just get one tuna steak and maybe serve this as a special appetizer for you and your spouse one night this week. The tuna is rich and delicious. The mango avocado salsa complements that rich flavor with a sharp sweetness that cuts through the tuna in a wonderful way.
It also teaches you how to sear fish well. And this method can be used for other fish, steak and plenty of other proteins. So you are also expanding your toolbox in the kitchen.
The world is a little crazy right now and it can be overwhelming. We all deserve a reprieve from the madness every now and then, and a delicious meal is the best way I can think of to take a deep breath.
So treat yo’ self. You deserve it.
