Burger joints are a scam. I don’t know who started the first burger bar with “duck fat fries” and a fried egg on there, but whoever that asshole is, they single-handedly raised the average price of a cheeseburger from $5 to $25.

For some bizarre reason, a trip to Five Guys or Shake Shack will run you legit $15-$20 for a VERY average burger. For prices like that it should be the best burger I’ve ever had. Sure, beef prices are way up, but burger prices have been insanely inflated for years.

I don’t care that you're wearing a beanie inside with a flannel and well-kept mustache. Just because you put a crispy onion and BBQ sauce on a burger DOES NOT MEAN you are allowed to charge me $45, Chadley.

I got so sick of the price of burgers that I got to work in my kitchen. Surely we can outdo Shake Shack. I personally will never understand the Shake Shack hype. Every burger I’ve had from there is dry, cold and lackluster. So f-you, Shake Shack, I'm gonna show everyone how to do what you do for less money AND it will taste better.

You know we’ve reached a rough time as an economy when fast food costs more than a sit-down restaurant. But now you do not have to stress about it. Once you make this burger, you will never want to eat at a burger restaurant again.

The flavor is that good and I will die on this hill. I’ve made a lot of amazing things… but this burger might be the best of the best.

Maillard Reaction: The Maillard reaction is what happens to the beef when you press it firmly into a very hot surface. A reaction occurs that creates that delicious crust on a smashburger patty. That is why it’s crucial to ensure that your pan is HOT before smashing your patties.
