Sausage and peppers is a staple in the northeast. Family gathering? Phillies game? Potluck? Somebody’s making sausage and peppers. But what if there was a better way to do it…?

Inspired by the great Christian Petroni, this sausage and peppers recipe is super simple, affordable and it tastes incredible. Figuring out different ways to cook classics is one of the best ways to both broaden your horizons in the kitchen and learn new techniques.

This recipe, for example, expedites the entire process of making sausage and peppers. It turns it into an easy weeknight meal that you can throw on a pan, toss it in the oven and you’re good to go. Not to mention it just looks cool.

Whether you’re serving it a party or just feeding your family, they will absolutely love how fun this recipe is to eat. It’s almost like a sausage and pepper dip. Rip off a great piece of bread and scoop up a mouthful right off the pan. It is oddly satisfying to do it this way.

One pan dinners are some of my favorites. But one pan does not have to mean boring. Finding ways to spice up your easy recipes, add a little something here, a little something there and you’ve taken a boring weeknight meal and elevated it into an experience.

I know that sounds silly but these are the things that make the difference between a decent home cook and a fantastic home chef. Keep expanding your kitchen horizons and before you know it, you’ll be an expert.
